Pure Barre

Pure Barre! What is it? Where is it? And, why is it such a great workout? We’ve been taking Pure Barre pretty religiously for the past 4 weeks, and couldn’t be happier with the results we’ve seen in such a short time. Like any barre class, Pure Barre guarantees a full body workout you dread coming to, but love the way you feel when you leave. There’s a reason why this was one of Lindsey’s main workouts leading up to her wedding. It was the only way she was going to fit into a wedding dress that was custom fit to her body, she wasn’t messing around.

Pure Barre’s motto, “Lift, Tone, Burn” kind of says it all, but the Pure Barre method is a different type of workout for those of you barre addicts. It’s centered around small controlled movements and deep concentration for each body part you’re working. Like any barre class, form also plays a HUGE factor in ensuring you get the best workout possible. You know what we’re talking about, the ever so flattering “butt squeeze stance”, where your butt squeezes in, your hips tuck under, and you death grip the ballet barre on your tippy toes.

Try holding all of that together as you take small pulses up and down with an elastic band around your ankles for a minute straight. You will shake uncontrollably, curse, and never want to do it again, until you back off and realize that results can come immediately. It’s all about concentrating on the muscle groups you’re working and paying attention to form. We’re pretty sure that defines “lift, tone burn”.

Don’t freak out, it actually sounds a lot harder than it is. The Pure Barre instructors are fully trained in the craft of “tucking”, which ensures perfect form. Instead of sweating and working out with you, they’re walking around, demonstrating and reminding you to keep those damn hips tucked. With everything you have to pay attention to, it’s really easy to lose sight of the muscles you’re working. In addition to reminding you to tuck, the instructors explain why each movement is important and how it’s working your muscles.

So, why are we doing this to ourselves? Why are we working our muscles to the purist state of exhaustion? Because of the results! We can’t tell you how happy we are with the results we have seen in such a small period of time. We’ve noticed lean muscle definition in our legs, flatter tummies, and a complete transformation in our entire upper body.
